Kanean is a public platform about public places. This page explains, without the runaround, what the app collects, why, and what it never does.

Posts, photos, comments, reactions and confirmations are public — that is the product. They show up in the app, on the map and on a web page anyone can share. Your name and your profile photo appear alongside what you publish.
Location is what gives an occurrence meaning: without it, nobody knows where the pothole is. It is used to place the post, to show what is happening near you and to route the problem to the right agency. We store the coordinates of the OCCURRENCE, not your movement history. The app does not follow you in the background.
The photos you publish are reprocessed on the server before they become visible: the orientation is corrected, the size is reduced and ALL metadata is stripped — including the GPS data the camera writes inside the file. This matters: a photo taken at home carries your home address. Anyone who downloads the published image finds nothing beyond the image.
Publishing requires an account, with a name and an email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive only your name, email and profile photo. We also store the language you chose, so we can talk to you in the right one.
If you agree to receive alerts, we store a device identifier so we are able to send them. It is used for nothing else, and it disappears when you sign out or uninstall the app.
Conversations between two people are private: they are visible only to the people taking part in them. You can block someone at any time, and the block stops both the messages and any contact across the rest of the platform.
With the agency in charge, once it claims the occurrence — and from there it sees what anyone else sees, plus its own team's internal notes. We use third-party services to run the app: maps (Apple and Google), notification delivery and hosting. They process only what is needed to provide those services.
You can edit your profile, archive your posts (they disappear for everyone and stay visible only to you), delete posts and comments, and delete your account from the app itself. To request a copy of your data, write to the contact below.
In the app Settings you delete your account right away, without asking anyone. Name, email, photo, username, bio, followed places, blocks, notifications and registered devices are erased; accounts with a password confirm it first. Posts, photos and comments stay public, without your name: they are the record of problems other people confirmed and an organization may be handling. If you want them gone, archive or delete each one before deleting the account. The same email can open a new account later.
